A Humanitarian Initiative for Premature Babies

The Padel Association of Serbia continues to develop socially responsible initiatives ahead of the upcoming FIP Gold Tour, which will be held in Belgrade from 24 to 30 August. This year’s tournament will also have a humanitarian character, as the Padel Association of Serbia will support UNICEF through an initiative dedicated to premature babies in Serbia. All proceeds from ticket sales for the special charity match will be donated to UNICEF to help improve neonatal care and support premature babies in Serbia.

“Supporting UNICEF represents an important step for the Padel Association of Serbia. We want to show that sport is not only about competition, but also an opportunity to come together and do something good for our community. Through this humanitarian initiative, we hope to motivate athletes, fans and the wider public to get involved and support those who need help the most. Solidarity, care for children and the promotion of healthy values are all part of what we aim to build through the development of padel in Serbia. That is why we decided to donate all ticket-sale proceeds to UNICEF, so that together we can help premature babies,” said Đorđe Mijailović, President of the Padel Association of Serbia.

Jelena Kovačević from UNICEF Serbia pointed out that UNICEF has been working with athletes and sports organizations around the world for decades in order to improve children’s lives.

“We are pleased that the Padel Association of Serbia has decided to support UNICEF and our mission to improve neonatal care. Thanks to partners who stand with us, medical care provided over the past three years has helped save the lives of more than 10,000 premature babies. We believe that the support of the Padel Association of Serbia will help even more children have the chance for a healthy start in life and return home with their families,” said Jelena Kovačević, representative of UNICEF Serbia.

More than 4,000 babies are born prematurely in Serbia every year, while premature birth is the leading cause of death among children under the age of five. Through this humanitarian initiative, the Padel Association of Serbia aims to contribute to improving the conditions for their treatment and care, demonstrating that sport can be a powerful force for positive social change.

As one of the fastest-growing sports in Serbia, padel is bringing together an increasing number of athletes and recreational players. By organizing a charity match as part of the FIP Gold Tour, the Padel Association of Serbia aims to combine top-level sport and humanitarian action, inviting the public to support both the development of padel and UNICEF’s important mission of giving premature babies a better chance at life.
